Woven Color Studies

Come explore the fundamentals of color theory while learning the art of weaving on a floor loom. Open to all skill levels, this workshop welcomes both beginners and experienced weavers looking to experiment with color and texture. Participants will learn essential weaving techniques, including how to create their own warp, set up a floor loom, and create woven color studies that investigate the relationship between colors. The workshop begins with a discussion of key color theory concepts and the process of designing and warping the loom. As the workshop progresses, you will explore primary, secondary, and complementary colors, along with warm and cool tones, all while weaving your own color studies. By the final day, participants will cut their woven samples off the loom and compile them into a personalized swatch book of their color experiments. You are encouraged to push the boundaries of traditional weaving by experimenting with unconventional materials and creative color combinations.
