5 Receive SDA Award of Excellence
April 12, 2011
SDA Award of Excellence is given to acknowledge outstanding creativity or innovation in a work using textile/fiber-related media. The AoE is presented by the appointed juror/judge of an exhibition or fashion show after entries are evaluated.
Eligible work must be professionally presented – including entries in fashion shows. Exhibitions must be open to the public for a minimum of 1 day or be part of a conference. The award criteria are creativity, originality, innovation and excellence of execution using surface design/textile/fiber-related media and processes.
The purpose of the award is to increase awareness of the Surface Design Association’s mission, which is to encourage appreciation of textile media across the spectrum of art, craft and design. 56 have been awarded since the program began in 2002, including 5 in 2010.
The award consists of a one-year membership in SDA and publication of the award-winning work on the SDA website GALLERY section under AWARD RECIPIENTS (currently under construction).
For more information, go to SDA website at www.surfacedesign.org under GET INVOLVED, where more information and application forms can be found under SDA AWARDS & GRANTS in the drop down menu.
