Image Statement: Roots : Exposed The roots of this tree spread out to gather water, to hold the ground, to anchor and sustain the tree. We don’t normally see the roots, though they have been more apparent during the recent droughts as they are closer to the surface. During these COVID days and into this winter period, before the return of the light we, like the trees, have turned inward. It is a chance to nourish our roots. Many of the things that normally sustain us – family, friends, community – are not so easy to access or at least not in ways that we are accustomed to. It is like a time of drought – our roots and emotions are often closer to the surface.
