Image Statement: Paper is a record keeper, a surface on which past is affixed. When repurposed, these “recordings” take on a new meaning and relevance, bridging the gap between past and present. I have explored a variety of types of paper, ranging from intimate journals, outdated office bills, to found pages on the street. Whether by shredding, tearing, or pulping, my recycling projects aim to distill paper to its basic material form, eschewing the weight of past language and meaning for a freer space from which new meanings may surprise.
