Image Statement: Anna May was one of 18 works shown in my 2024 exhibition "Women Are Women (not men)". The artworks were a tribute to the beauty of the female figurative. weThe image was inspired by a black and white photograph of iconic Japanese/American actress Anna May Wong, taken in the 1940s. The artwork is a combination of collage, stenciling and acrylic painting adhered to a masonite board. Most of the decorative papers were printed by the gelatin plate process, onto acid free butcher paper.
