Raison D’Etre, 2023
Artist's photo Digitally Designed; Cotton Sateen Printed by Artist 16" x 20"
I gave an azalea to my mother for Mother's Day in Calgary 1962. I resolved then to live in a place in Canada that grew them! I moved to Vancouver Island in 1994 and I have been growing and caring for them ever since! Happily they grow everywhere in our condominium gardens so I continue to enjoy them to this day. This is my macro photo of an azalea I visit on my daily walks.

TUMBLING DOTS, 2022
ACRYIC PAINTS ; COTTON SATEEN 14" SQ
I was in an exuberant mood in my studio on a cold January day. Using acryic paint I made dots with another dot inside it using mostly it's complementary colour. I then Machine Quilted between every dot! It was so fun to do after the sadness of the subject of my first two of the series and the isolation of CO-VID.

CONNECT THE DOTS #1 NO MORE PLASTICS, 2019
ARTIST PHOTOS, FOUND PLASTIC, COTTON SATEEN; 14"SQ
Having found the plastic in this piece on a remote, pristine beach on Haida Gwai in the Pacific Northwest I was overwhelmed with anger and shame at what we are doing to our planet. This was part of the Mid-Island Surface Design Group exhibit called "Connect the Dots ". We all need to turn this around!

MY NEW PATH, 2020
COTTON SATEEN, THREAD 16" X 20"
After enjoying the past 20 years in traditional art-quilt making this piece signifies a crossroad for me. Choosing a new path , for this piece,I studied with contemporary artists working in photography, graphic arts, and mixed media art forms.I chose to reduce the significant layers in my art, minimize the machine quilting and adjust the primary colour palette to shades of grey and bronze for this piece. This piece is a metaphor for this new path. Although the piece seems to have more light, the end it not in sight. This piece was juried into the Grand National a Canada-wide travelling exhibit.

A BOOK OF LEAVES, 2023
CANVAS,SILK CHIFFON, COTTON SATEEN, VARIETY OF THREADS(SILK, EMBROIDERY,HEMP,COTTON,RAYON) ACRYLIC PAINTS , VARIETY OF PENS 9.5"W X 70" L
This piece has grown from my loves of leaves. I have drawn, photographed, scanned all these leaves at one time or another. Printing them with my Epson printer & machine quilted them individually. They are the fallen, imperfect, disintegrating leaves with absolutely gorgeous deep colour. Gathered from the ground underneath our Arbutus trees I believe they are exquisite and their structure has a similarity to us as humans. This piece has grown from my loves of leaves.
