Raging Tempest, var. 2, 2022
silk broadcloth, cotton, photo, dyed cloth, thread 64 x 27
My art has been informed by the Pandemic and a diagnosis of cancer. Raging Tempest, var.2 was created in reaction to the diagnosis. I took photographs of the Pacific ocean and transformed the scene to reveal a primal force that was ablaze within me. Although the storm appears dangerous and perhaps insurmountable, these moments will gradually subside over time. ‘The world is a great ocean, upon which we encounter more tempestuous storms than calms’. Edgar Allen Poe

Let The Good Times Roll!, 2022
cotton, photo, dyed cloth, Inktense pencils, metallic foil, canvas, threads 24 x 24 x 1 inch
This image of a rustic old farm truck was inspired by a visit to the quaint town of Harmony, CA., a Central Coast destination for artists and those seeking peace. The abandoned relic was proudly basking among the thick grass and trees behind the glass-blowing building. For me it conjured up sweet memories of the good old days and pieces of the past, bringing me joy and harmony. “She loved the smell of old truck; thick cotton and vinyl seat covers, old gasoline and oil, the smell of country, decades of farmers, workers and families taking trips back and forth to town, up backroads to swimming holes, over fields, through all the weather. She imagined what this truck would have seen if it had eyes and a memory. “ Glenda Love

Petrified Logs, var. 1 and 2 (diptych), 2022
silk broadcloth, photos, dyed Fabric, metallic foil, thread 64 x 25
Imagine trees turned to stone bursting with color, surface design and amazing glimmer. Such natural beauty abounds at the Petrified Forest National Park. This captivating desert landscape with thousands of fossilized tree stumps and logs fills the soul with inspiration! As I walked about the sanctuary, I was in awe of such beauty created over a span of 200 million years by Mother Nature. These petrified logs provide a majestic example of strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.
