Around and Around, 2022
Waxed linen; cotton cord; glass, antique and stone beads; driftwood 13.5”h x 6”dia
Inspired by long-travelled beads, this vessel form speaks to history and the value of memories. Round is a profound word with an entire range of rich meanings that relate to a sense of place and time. As to ‘Go the Rounds’ of working toward a sense of completeness - to develop one’s self toward betterment over a lifetime. This wood-footed vessel, heavy with beaded detail carries a somewhat ceremonial air while the blue graphic symbols against the black ground suggest essential Earthly elements of water, birds and clouds all moving along at a more metered pace - like the seasons.

The Nature of Being, 2022
Wet-felted wool, hemp cord, driftwood 12.5”w x 10”h x 10.5”d
Like all of the works in the wood-footed series of vessels, this piece visually defines an embodiment. With its gestural presentation, it is a spirit of being. There is a sense of compliance (but not weakness) in this gentle giant. With its powerful feet planted firmly, it has the capacity to quietly endure the substance and consequence of being.
