Hive Dancing at the Blue Dahlia Cafe, 2013
cotton, rayon, polyester and silk fabrics; cotton and rayon threads; glass beads and sequins 12" H x 12" W x 3/4" D
This piece was a response to the hive collapse disaster in the US and my fascination with the "waggle dance". It led eventually to an elaborate fantasy costume titled: "Mielificent, Queen of the Killer Bees." Read the story at https://maggiedstudios.wordpress.com/14-2/

A Prayer for the Dancers, 2022-23
woven cottons and non-woven polyester dye catcher; cotton, rayon and metallic threads 14.5" H x 7.75W
During the covid-19 epidemic a group of young women, experienced Jingle Dress dancers from Utah, began traveling the United States presenting honor dances to heal the nation. I was fortunate to experience their dance in June 2021 at the Duwamish Long House in West Seattle, Washington--my first public venture in over a year. This is my gift back to them for their efforts and the joy it gave me. Learn more at https://www.tapahe.com/project
