In Greek mythology, Atropos was one of the three Moirai goddesses who decided the fate of humans. Her sister Clotho spun the thread of life. Sister Lachesis measured the length of that life. And It was Atropos who chose the manner of death and ended the lives of mortals by cutting their threads. I’ll Fly Away #7: Atropos is an improvised design created with hand-dyed silk fabrics and hand-embroidered with cotton threads also dyed by the artist.

A House Divided, 2018

I live in a house divided but it is still standing. This free-form hand embroidery depicts the division in our country between family, friends, and neighbors. But it also shows that we are a stronger country when we lean on each other and trust in each other.
