“Whitney”, 2024
Textile collage with beadwork and embroidery on chiffon, organza, silk, and upcycled clothing, mounted on cotton rag paper. 14” h x 11” w x 1” d
This textile collage is the first in a series entitled “Sexy GenXy,” which explores the intersectionality of good old fashioned sex, drugs, and rock n roll, as seen through the lens of someone wanting their MTV. From the AIDS crisis to the opiate epidemic, this series looks at Gen X artists, musicians, and culture icons who lived and died on the frontlines of both. May their legacies never be forgotten.
