As Above, So Below, 2020
Deconstructed mother-of-the-Bride dress, plastic beach debris, wet-felted wool 48" x 72"
Holy Mackerel! Fish used to be the healthy menu choice. but the big fish eat the little fish that have been feasting on our plastic debris that leach toxins called PCBs, pesticides, and flame retardants into the water. They enter our food chain, endangering fish, turtles, seabirds and mammals. They expose us to chemicals that cause cancers reproductive disorders, and neurological deficits. 1.8 trillion pieces of trash weighing 80.000 tons have created accidental flotillas in our oceans. One is 4 times the size of California. So let's all do our best to eliminate plastic usage and debris. Reuse, repurpose, recycle!

Mother, Mother Ocean, 2019
Merino wool, silk organza, lyocell, glass beads, beach trash 60 x 28 x 50
This piece reflects my deep respect for the oceans that sustain us and my concern for the health of our coral and kelp beds. Our beautiful ocean is now contaminated with a giant flotilla of plastic the imperils birds, wild life, and humans. It will continue to grow exponentially unless we take drastic measures to reduce our plastic waste and to clean up the mess we have already created.

Strength and Fragility, 2022
Wool roving, wool batts, lyocell 32x40
The power of the ocean, the complexity of her life below, and the reflective beauty of her vast surface is constantly awe-inspiring. However, just as we acknowledge her strength, we must recognize the fragility of her ecosystem. Our very survival as a human race relies upon her health. Yet, it is astounding that we continue to pollute our waterways and to destroy the delicate balance that sustains our life force.

Illumination, 2022
Wool roving, silk, lyocell, metallic trim, foam and acrylic base. 22 x 22 x 22
In my solitude, I am alone but not lonely. My thoughts become clouds that float on the breeze as only feathers can in weightless wonder. I drink from the stream of tranquility and emerge from under the cares of the day, Embracing serenity, my thoughts creep in then slip away. My body surrenders to this quiet place Enveloped in love, I see the first cell, the essence of life, the face of creation. I welcome the light, surrender to the spell Succumb to solitude, I find illumination. ~Katy Drury Anderson

Mouth Off!, 2018
Wool roving, Naturally distressed American flag, needle felted screaming mouths 32" x 60"
The inauguration of Trump empowered Women to march, to speak out against intolerance, the erosion of our civil liberties, and an overt attempt the government to control our bodies. We cannot be silenced. Together we are mighty.
