Cocoon, 2022
Felted wool, wire 20" x 11" x 7"
I see my studio practice as a laboratory where I experiment with materials that have personal history and are significant to because of their origins. Inspiration for my work comes from the marvels of biological life. To me this work is a kind of lacy, cozy yet airy cocoon.

I see my studio practice as a laboratory where I experiment with materials that have personal history and are significant to because of their origins. Inspiration for my work comes from the marvels of biological life. For me this work references both mushrooms and underwater plants.

Sweatery Web, 2021
Recycled wool sweaters (felted), staples, thread 100" x 62" x 4"
Some moths got to my sweaters -- and then I started collecting more moth-eaten sweaters from neighbors and friends and felting them. It was satisfying to give these old sweaters a new life!

In the Shadow of My Mother’s Veil (Shoulder), 2022
Digital image from performance with my mother's wedding veil. 16" x 20"
In this performance work I mapped my body with my mother's wedding veil, a family heirloom. The work allowed me to claim this beautiful object for myself -- though through art rather than marriage. I'm also repurposing a storied but forgotten object, giving it a new, different life. This project acknowledges the shadows our family history can place upon us.
