The Colours of Nature, 2019
Original digital image printed on cotton fabric, cotton and polyester threads 24" x 36"
Colour has always fascinated me and light allows us to see colour. My inspiration here comes from the colours of nature: flowers, vegetation, blue skies, sunsets, dawns, pale mists. This piece is infused with the colours I see in my garden and the countryside in Spring and Summer.

Eye of the Storm, 2019
Original digital image printed on cotton fabric, cotton and polyester threads 24 x 35"
We are in the eye of the storm, literally and metaphorically. Powerful hurricanes have battered many areas of our planet. And with climate change, we are almost at the point of no return - we must act now to save the planet for our children and grandchildren.

Quantum Entanglement, 2019
Original digital image printed on cotton fabric, cotton and polyester threads 16" by 16"
I am fascinated by the quantum world’s strange phenomenon where pairs of particles separated by great distances behave in exactly the same way. Artistic licence allows me to imagine what the quantum world may look like.

The Jewelled City on the Winding River, 2018
Hand-dyed cotton sateen fabrics, fusible web, cotton and polyester threads 26" x 26"
Imaginary journeys take me to unexpected places, and I can enjoy inventing worlds. This is a sparkling, colourful city, with houses clustered along the path of a winding river. Small boats carry the inhabitants on pleasant trips along the river.

Mapping Earth, 2009
Hand-dyed cotton sateen fabrics, cotton and polyester threads 24" x 24"
A view from above of a village at the crossroads - a common feature of the English landscape. Maps have an irresistible appeal – they show us where places are and how to get to them; they describe features of our planet. Maps have been crucial in the development of mankind.

Lines in the Landscape, 2017
Hand-dyed cotton sateen fabrics, fusible web, cotton and polyester threads 18" x 36"
Looking from above, the surface of Planet Earth seems to be made of shapes, lines, textures, and reliefs. They mark coastlines, river courses, roads of various sizes, furrows on the fields. That’s how those features are now; but with climate change, those lines could change – as the ice line already is – and sea water could flood low lying lands. This piece is loosely based on the River Parrett in Somerset, UK, flowing north-west and ending in the Bristol Channel, forming the Bridgewater Bay National Nature Reserve.

Blue Remembered Hills, 2018
Hand-dyed cotton sateen fabrics, foil, cotton and polyester threads. 28" x 35"
There is a time of the evening when dark descends and the lights go on. Green fields become dark blue, the river turns purple, meandering around the blue hills, the woods and the ploughed fields. Lights shine along the roads and inside houses. Moonlight is reflected on the river. Sometimes a road seems to end suddenly, but that’s because street lights stop once the roads leave the villages. The title of this piece comes from a collection of poems by A.E. Housman (English, 1859-1936).
