Soft Sculpture
In this 3 day workshop, we will use fabric and stuffing to create dimensional soft sculpture works. Participants will first draw their designs on paper, work through a plan to transform them in scale and material and construct their sculptures using a sewing machine. We will look at the works of Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen as inspiration for creating soft sculptures of everyday objects, or participants may choose to create abstract forms. No prior sewing knowledge is necessary – beginners are welcome.
