The Possibilities of Papermaking: 2D and 3D Explorations of Pulp
This workshop will focus on the basic techniques of 2D & 3D papermaking, working in cotton and abaca fibers. Participants will have the opportunity to learn sheet forming, pulp painting, stenciling, paper casting, and embedding while contemplating the final form of their paper works. Participants are encouraged to expand beyond traditional notions of paper/paper objects and consider their work in more layered, narrative and experimental contexts. No previous paper making experience is required. It is recommended to bring personal ephemera that you are comfortable cutting up/collaging with such as ticket stubs, sketchbook pages, magazine pages, copied photos, recycled paper, fabric, plant material, beads, etc.
