Piecing without a Pattern
It’s time to get weird and trust your gut because we are going off grid! This workshop is devoted to intuitive patchwork and piecing to build your confidence in creating unique & original work. Using sewing machines, we will learn several methods of fabric construction, such as improvisational piecing, strip piecing, crumb piecing, rag piecing, and chain work. While pieced fabric is often used for quilting, it doesn’t have to be; patchwork created during this class can be used for garments, soft sculpture, home goods, quilting, and beyond. In addition to technical skills, we will discuss strategies for getting out of our own heads and instead, into our work. Prior experience with a sewing machine is encouraged but not required. Both sewing machines and fabrics will be supplied but you are welcomed to bring your own of either if there is something you would like to work with.
