Materials: Pod book: seed pods, seed specimens, hand made paper, yarn (cotton/wool/nylon), kevlar thread, copper wire, boiled cotton, dyes. Book: paper (hand made + commercially made), digital ink, watercolor, colored pencil, hot stamping foil. Box: book board, book cloth, ink, paper (hand made + commercially made), seed pod, seed specimens, mica, cast acrylic, hot stamping foil, laser toner, acrylic.

Image Statement: Seeds 2 is a book structure with elongated and halved seed pods a covers and woven fiber page panels. Both book and box tray include seed specimens. It is housed in a drop spine box that includes an accordion book featuring a watercolor, pencil and ink drawing with a hand lettered quote from Walden's unfinished manuscript "Faith in a Seed", 1862. I inherited some large seed pods from my great Aunt Ruth in 1998, along with many other treasures from the natural world. Because Ruth was an inspiration and role model for me, it's important to me to make use of these inherited treasures in ways that preserve their enticing characteristics. It took me a while to land on woven pages for the 'text block' of this book and was a far bigger challenge than I anticipated, especially since I first had to learn the basics of weaving.
