Image Statement: Inherent vice is the tendency of a material to self-destruct due to its intrinsic internal characteristics.The mordants used in dyeing black cloth can cause it to deteriorate faster than the other fabrics in a quilt. Here I referenced Victorian mourning customs and repaired/altered this lovely yet doomed quilt fragment.
