SDA’s Award of Excellence

SDA is committed to supporting the efforts of community members to realize their creative goals and positively impact the world of textile and fiber art. SDA’s Grants & Awards program provides an array of opportunities to support members as they demonstrate excellence in the studio and in exhibitions, engage in professional development, organize events, and engage in practices that positively impact communities.

The SDA Award of Excellence acknowledges accomplishments textiles & fiber art and is awarded by the exhibit’s juror/curator. The Award of Excellence includes a one-year premium digital membership in SDA. We’re pleased to introduce you to our 2022–23 Award of Excellence winners!

Awards of Excellence have a rolling deadline and exhibition organizers/curators may apply for the Award annually or for each exhibit installation. Questions should be directed to the Awards Administrator. Here are some of our upcoming grants and awards deadlines:

  • 1) PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
    Working on a cool project? We’d love to support your creative development, scholarship and research. Deadline: October 1
  • 2) EDUCATOR GRANT
    We appreciate our educators! We’re celebrating those who foster excellence in fields related to Fiber. Deadline: November 1
  • 3) SMALL EVENT GRANT
    Let us help cover program-related expenses for local / regional SDA member events & exhibitions. Deadline: December 1
  • 4) COMMUNITY SUPPORT FUND (open to non-members)
    We’re delighted to offer 1-year memberships to those facing barriers to joining SDA. Deadline: ongoing (applications close on the first of each month)
